IN the mountain woods of Nepal grow two stout climbing shrubs named Hollbollia, by Dr. Wallich, after Mr.Frederick Louis Holboell, Superintendent of the Royal Botanic Garden at Copenhagen,
" an experienced botanist, and a contributor to Hornemann's Fora Daniae oeconomica." Dr. Wallich also calls him "amicus et praeceptor carissimus." They belong, with a few other plants, to a small natural order named Lardizabalads, the type of which is a Peruvian climber called Lardizabala biternata. Of these Hollbollias, the "Broad-leaved and the Narrow-leaved, the first has been. figured in the Botanical Register, for 1846, t. 49. The Narrow-leaved does not seem to be in cultivation.
Dr. Wallich speaks of them as follows :—

Paxton produced The Magazine of Botany, and Register of Flowering Plants. This series of magazines was published in London 1834-1849. During the years of 1850-1852, Paxton along with John Lindley published the rare three-volume work: PAXTON’S FLOWER GARDEN. Represented are many exotic species especially fine Orchids. They are often compared to the early volumes of Warner and Williams, Orchid Album. The print offered for sale here is from this first edition, which is a completely different product to the 1882 color printed edition frequently found. These prints were produced using a zincographic process along with hand coloring and have the plate markings Pinx & Zinc.
