This CD disc presents 46 high resolution digital BMP images from the 1902 edition of THE NEW BOOK OF POULTRY.These images can be printed directly from the CD or imported to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, PaintShop Pro, Adobe PhotoDelux, PrintMaster and other popular painting and drawing programs and printed on quality inkjet paper producing stunning results suitable for framing. Or for designing your own greeting cards, posters, brochures and calendars.
The original production of THE ILLUSTRATED BOOK OF POULTRY (also available on CD) was published. thirty years earlier. The illustrations were also by A.J. Ludlow. The plates which appear in the New Edition are completely different from those found in the earlier editions. Ludulow was well known as a painter of poultry and cock-fighting portraits. Works by him also appear as illustrations to the Fanciers Gazette. These Poultry portraits are also discussed in two very interesting books Farm Animal Portraits by Elspeth Moncrieff (1996), and Lewis Wright's Poultry by Dr. J. Batty (1983) .
The print out size is the same size as the originals, if not enlarged or reduced. I have found that these Images print best on Ink Jet matte paper. When printed directly from the CD, they are the actual size. (The same as the originals) and the result is an awesome print almost indistinguishable as a reprint, even when using a relatively inexpensive home ink jet printer. If Image permanence is a concern, these digital images will also render beautiful professional quality prints when professionally printed on acid free paper using the Giclée (jhee-clay) printing process. This printing process is very stable, giving fade & color shift resistance of 75 years on watercolor paper under average indoor light conditions.
These beautiful prints are also referenced in Fine Bird Books 1700 - 1900 By SACHEVERELL STWELL, HANDASYDE BUCHANAN and JAMES FISHER. (1990) Pages: 18,31,63,97 151 and 158. This work is considered to be the most comprehensive illustrated guide to collectible colorplate books ever published.
