"THE SPIRIT OF THE WOODS" is an enchanting botanical/art/ Victorian period piece - 1837 London. Rebecca Hey as an anonymous work authored and illustrated this very rare book. She also was the author of "THE MORAL OF THE FLOWERS". The deep rich hues and shade of green of the 26 delicately hand-colored plates are strikingly exquisite. This work is a true labor of love by a lady who discovered the spirit of the woods 170 years ago.
This is a beautifully rebound edition with almost no foxing. The hand colored (coloured) plates are clean and bright.
