This attractive original (not a reproduction) print is from the 1849 The Ladies’ Flower- Garden of Ornamental Bulbous Plants on heavy stock, free of text on the back. This stunning full paged Botanical measures 8 ˝” x 10 ˝” A hand – colored lithograph with bright vivid color botanically correct and very beautiful. The edges are untrimmed.


Mrs. Loudon [Jane Webb] (1807 – 1858) was the wife of landscape gardener and horticultural writer, John Loudon, who designed the Birmingham Botanical Garden. She began to write popular botanical books to help pay off the debts that her husband incurred in publishing his Arboretum Fruticetum Britannicum. Mrs. Loudon’s works are known for their delicate renderings of graceful botanical subjects and are rarely found as individual prints.
