This
is an unusual and rare book. It is a book of German poetry written in
German with gothic lettering. This wonderful book has 36 hand
colored (coloured) plates. Each plate is followed by a poem. These
plates are stunning! The plates are originally done by
Grandville in Les
Fleurs Animées. The flowers are labeled in German.

9 ¼" x 6 ¼" x 1 ¼"
The book is bound in brown leather and embossed with gold designs of flowers and the flower fairy. The leather spine is quite sunned. The leather edges are worn, but not torn. Edges are gilt. This book is tightly bound. There is some light age toning to the margins of the pages. There is major foxing to the title page, but the frontispiece is clean. A few text pages have some foxing. And as is usually the case, the tissue guards are foxed, but for the most part, the plates are clean.

slightly smaller format, and with fine hand colouring.
